Drone nets

Drones fly in more test, training and security programs every year. That growth calls for a reliable way to keep them inside a defined flight zone. A drone net stops a drone from escaping, hitting people or damaging equipment. At Netco, we supply custom drone nets for defense, security, training and recreational use. Every net is configured for your space, your drone class and your application.
What a drone net does
A drone net is a strong safety net that keeps drones within a specific flight zone. It catches a drone on impact and absorbs the energy without damaging the aircraft. That is the main difference from a standard safety net. Standard nets are designed for human loads and are often too coarse or too stiff for drones.
Drone netting is used for test and training areas, indoor and outdoor drone cages, recreational drone parks and secured sites. The mesh size is matched to the dimensions, rotor diameter and impact energy of your drone. A net that fits your drone class protects both the aircraft and everything around it.

Drone netting applications
Defense organizations, emergency services and security agencies use drone nets to:
- run test flights in controlled spaces
- train pilots without risk to equipment or personnel
- simulate scenarios with drones operating close to infrastructure
- screen off practice zones for sensor tests and UAV maneuvers
This increases training capacity while limiting risk. These nets often work alongside our other nets for defense applications.
✔ Anti-drone netting for site protection
Anti-drone nets do the opposite of a training net: they keep unwanted drones out. A stationary net is stretched over or around the zone you want to protect. On contact, it blocks the rotors so the drone loses lift. This works best where drones fly at limited altitude. Think of prison perimeters, airport areas near runways and critical infrastructure at ground level. Netco supplies anti-drone netting for stationary and active systems in cooperation with specialized European partners.
✔ Drone cages, racing and events
Indoor racing circuits, recreational flight cages and educational workshops all rely on this type of netting. The same goes for VR drone experiences. At festivals and trade fairs, the nets make live demonstrations possible without damage to the surroundings.
Technical specifications of our drone netting
Each net is designed around the requirements of the application. The table below shows the most common parameters. We tailor every value to your project, from recreation to defense.

Drone net FAQ
What is a drone net used for? A drone net keeps drones inside a defined flight zone during test flights, defense training and indoor racing. Anti-drone nets protect sites such as prisons and airports by blocking the rotors of unwanted drones.
How does drone netting differ from a regular safety net? Drone netting uses a mesh size matched to the drone and absorbs impact energy without damaging the aircraft. Regular safety nets are designed for human loads and are often too coarse or too stiff for drones.
What sizes are drone nets available in? Netco supplies drone nets are custom-made, from small 5 x 5 meter test setups to complete arena enclosures. Mesh sizes range from 45 to 200 mm, matched to the drone class.
What material are drone nets made of? Netco supplies drone nets in Dyneema® (UHMWPE), HDPE or nylon, depending on the required strength and drone weight class. Dyneema is the recommended choice for heavy industrial drones, as it absorbs impacts of commercial drones up to 25 kg.
Are nets effective against drones? Yes, a net blocks the rotors on contact so the drone loses lift, which works best at limited altitude. Netco supplies anti-drone netting for stationary and active systems in cooperation with specialized European partners.
